Improving Productivity, Resilience, and Farmer Incomes.

Agricultural Extension and Value Chains
Agriculture in the Global South faces persistent challenges, including low productivity, unsustainable farming practices, and limited access to knowledge, finance, and markets. These constraints undermine food security and rural livelihoods. Strengthening agricultural extension services and value chains is key to fostering a more resilient and competitive agricultural sector.
We conduct in-depth value chain analyses to identify constraints and opportunities, promoting Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and sustainable resource use. Through targeted knowledge transfer and capacity building, we support farmers and agribusinesses in optimising crop management, harvesting techniques, and post-harvest handling. By improving quality control and reducing losses, we increase product value and marketability. Strengthening entrepreneurial skills, financial planning, and market access enables value chain actors to enhance their competitiveness and profitability.
Our Training-of-Trainers (ToT) programs equip agricultural advisors with the expertise to effectively support farmers. By establishing Farmer Field and Business Schools, we enable hands-on learning opportunities and continuous guidance. To create an enabling environment, we engage in policy advocacy for inclusive and sustainable agricultural policies.
By integrating agricultural extension with value chain development, we improve productivity, resilience, and farmer incomes - ultimately contributing to food security and sustainable economic growth.
