River Basin Organisations

River Basin Organisations (RBOs) are essential for managing water resources at the basin level, yet they often face challenges in governance, financial sustainability, and stakeholder coordination. Their ability to manage transboundary and national water resources effectively depends on institutional clarity, technical capacity, and access to reliable data.

We provide context-specific support to RBOs, strengthening their institutional structures and technical capabilities. Our services range from institutional development and capacity development to the facilitation of participatory decision-making processes. We assist in developing Awareness Kits, standardising operating procedures, and implementing the River Basin Management Cycle approach. Additionally, we conduct needs assessments, provide training, and support the development of basin information systems to improve data accessibility and management.

By enhancing the effectiveness of RBOs, we contribute to more transparent, inclusive, and sustainable water governance, ensuring that river basins are managed in a way that balances economic, social, and environmental needs.
