Water User Associations

In regions facing water scarcity and increasing climate variability, the efficient management of shared irrigation systems is essential for sustainable agriculture. Farmers in many countries have established Water User Associations (WUA) and Agricultural Development Groups (ADG) to co-manage water resources and ensure equitable distribution. Strengthening these organisations enhances resilience, improves water efficiency, and fosters sustainable agricultural production.

We provide context specific advisory services to farmer associations, supporting the introduction of water-saving technologies, monitoring and evaluation tools, and the development of fair and transparent water tariff systems. Our expertise also extends to income-generating activities and the participatory design of local development plans, ensuring long-term sustainability.

By enhancing the administrative, legal, organisational, financial, and technical capacities of farmer associations, we help safeguard vital land and water resources while promoting more efficient and sustainable irrigation practices.
