Strengthening the Vocational and Job Skills Training Sector (ARILA)
Anbar governorate in Iraq has been severely affected by war and delayed reconstruction, leaving many communities without opportunities for sustainable livelihoods. To support the post-conflict recovery of Heet, Ramadi, and Fallujah, the ARILA project focuses on three interlinked components: restoring and rehabilitating basic services, strengthening citizen-state relationships, and improving livelihoods through vocational education and business support in non-agricultural fields.
The project is based on the idea that a well-trained local labour force can fill vacancies created by growing businesses, boosting incomes and productivity. Dorsch Impact and its consortium partner bbw are responsible for developing the capacity of vocational training institutions, such as the Ramadi Vocational Training Centre and Youth Centres, to deliver modern, industry-relevant courses. A key focus is empowering unemployed youth, women, former internally displaced persons (IDPs), and host communities to access better job opportunities and contribute to the region’s economic recovery.
