Immediate Measures for Improvement of Water Supply directed to Syrian Refugees
Water supply issues in Jordan’s Northern Governorates stem from aging, overloaded pipe networks and limited water resources. The situation has worsened in recent years due to population growth, particularly the high number of refugees. This project aims to improve water supply across Northern Jordan, with a focus on areas hosting large numbers of Syrian refugees.
The project includes rehabilitating and upgrading wells, reducing network losses, and procuring essential equipment. As a result, it increases access to safely managed drinking water, reducing deaths and illnesses from unsafe water. It also cuts water losses, improves distribution, saves energy, and contributes to climate change mitigation. Additionally, it strengthens the Water Authority of Jordan’s operational capacity.
