Forest Programme III
The Indonesian-German Forestry Programme focuses on forest conservation and rehabilitation in Sulawesi, contributing to reduced climate-relevant emissions and improved livelihoods for rural poor communities. The programme is implemented in the upper watersheds of Palu/Lariang and Lore Lindu National Park (TNLL), one of Sulawesi's largest remaining mountainous rainforests and part of the UNESCO-declared Lore Lindu Biosphere Reserve. The park spans 217,991 hectares and is of high ecological, cultural, and archaeological significance, with Sulawesi known for its extraordinary biodiversity and endemism.
Co-financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through KfW, Forest Programme III aims to secure the integrity of Lore Lindu National Park, rehabilitate degraded forests in key watersheds, improve livelihoods in communities near the park, and support biodiversity conservation and climate research.
