1.11_2025_07 Jordan: International WWTP Process Engineer and Team Leader (m/f/d)
Type of contract: Freelance contract over approx. 13.5 PM over the total project duration of 70 months
Location: Jordan, West Jerash
Expected start: January 2026 (tentative)
For a tender in West Jerash, Jordan, we are looking for an International WWTP Process Engineer and Team Leader (m/f/d) with proven experience in WWTP projects worldwide financed by IFIs, especially KfW.
The objectives of the assignment of the Consultant (IC) are to ensure that the rehabilitation and extension of the WWTP West Jerash and possible necessary repair/adjustment works on the other two WWTP are designed in such way, that construction works can be carried out meeting quality, environmental, health,safety and social requirements, and that the timeline as well as the planned budget can be met.
Additionally, the Consultant will take over responsibilities of a Transaction Advisor for defining the most suitable option for operation of all three WWTP of Cluster 1. During optional operation of Cluster 1 WWTP, the IC will take over responsibilities of a monitoring consultant for monitoring the performance of the Contractor during the first approximately 5 years of operation (depending on the operational cost).
Qualifications and Skills:
The international WWTP Process Engineer/Team Leader will be the responsible process engineer and design expert for the design stages. He/She will interfere during construction for special tasks and upon special request (foresee a certain time input during construction).
He/She will be the responsible TL for the preparatory and design stages heading and guiding the design, operational, procurement and contractual advisory team of international and national experts. Will act as overall manager of the preparatory and design stages, which consists of the Project steering, controlling (financial, technical, time) and reporting. The TL will dispose of proven oral and written communication skills.

Education:
- Preferably an M.Sc or equivalent in Process, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
General, professional experience:
- Expert with profound Project management experience in internationally funded projects including close stakeholder coordination and guiding teams of international and national experts (Team Leader, Chief Designer and/or Project Manager);
- 10 years of overall working experience.
Specific task-related experience:
- 3 years of experience in preparatory studies (FS or similar) and design of WWTPs with sludge digestion > 20,000 PE as Team Leader;
- 5 years of experience in preparatory studies (FS or similar) and design of WWTPs with sludge digestion > 20,000 PE as Process Engineer;
- Preferably also supervision of construction and/or rehabilitation and/or operation of WWTPs with sludge digestion > 20,000 PE as Process Engineer;
- 2 projects guided under FIDIC conditions of Contract;
- Experience in sludge digestion and all further sludge treatment steps;
- Preferably 1 project with upgrading WWTP from aerobic treatment to anaerobic treatment with sludge digestion.
