Vocational Training Partnership Project in Iraq
The Vocational Training Partnership project in Northern Iraq is a follow-up to the GIZ project SEDI (2014–2016), previously led by bfz. Following an evaluation by bfz, Dorsch Impact and an external evaluator, this new phase was recommended. The consortium partners are bfz GmbH and KGE Business Alliances.
The project objective is: “Improved and consistent basic vocational education and training increases young people’s demand for technical occupations and offers a market-driven qualification."
This objective will be achieved through four result areas: Mobilisation and Selection, Vocational Training Courses, Employment, and Private Sector Improvement.
A study will be conducted to identify occupations based on market demand and supply. Trainers will be selected, trained, and certified to deliver the courses. Following the training, young adults will receive additional support in starting their own businesses. Alumni success will be monitored as part of the project’s outcomes.
In parallel, the consortium will foster dialogue among the three responsible ministries and local companies, supporting stronger coordination and alignment with labour market needs.
