Training of Innovation Coaches
The GIZ “Private Sector Development and Employment Promotion”, (PSD) project supported the development and piloting of business models in sectors with strong potential for job creation. As part of this workstream, the GIZ / PSD Project launched the initiative “Entrepreneurship Programme for Start-up and MSME Development, Innovation and Job Creation in the Agribusiness Sector”, implemented by Dorsch Impact. This project focused on supporting the development of promising business ideas within the downstream segments of agricultural value chains, particularly in processing, marketing, and service provision. It aimed to incentivise and foster innovation by strengthening MSMEs in Iraq, supporting the growth of an entrepreneurial and innovation-oriented culture, and promoting targeted prospective entrepreneurs and MSME owners. The programme ·"Knowledge transfer for Agribusiness Innovations, Training of Innovation Coaches, International technology networking and Creation of business linkages" seeks to equip young people with the essential skills required for the Iraqi economy to grow competitively and prosper.

Project Activities
Dorsch Impact's contract aimed to strengthen Iraqi youth through entrepreneurship and agribusiness training:
Focus on building business skills and applying agricultural knowledge to create and sustain MSMEs
Three work packages: market assessment, programme design and delivery, private sector linkages
300 participants trained in Baghdad and Basra (onsite and online)
Participants developed business model canvases and well-structured business plans
50 strong business plans submitted to GIZ PSD
Private sector experts engaged to support start-ups
50 finalists selected for piloting, coaching, and access to funding advice
Programme extended to Erbil with 150 participants and 25 business plans moving to incubation
Final pitching event supported at programme’s close
