Conservation of the Comoé National Park Phase II
Funded by KfW, the project Conservation of the Comoé National Park Phase II is part of a wider initiative by German Cooperation to support biodiversity protection in Comoé National Park (PNC) and its surrounding areas. The project is implemented by the Office Ivoirien des Parcs et Réserves (OIPR) through its Direction de Zone Nord-Est (DZNE), the authority responsible for managing the park.
Building on the first phase (2017–2020), Phase II (2021–2025) focuses on strengthening park infrastructure, ecological monitoring and surveillance, and community engagement. It aims to improve the conditions for sustainable biodiversity management while contributing to the socio-economic development of local populations.
Key objectives include the rehabilitation and construction of park infrastructure, deployment of a radio network, provision of air surveillance support, and the supply of essential equipment. The project also contributes to improved ecological surveillance, fire management, and the development of ecotourism—subject to security conditions. Community-focused investments target schools, health centres (including maternity wards), water access, and agro-pastoral infrastructure.
