On 5th and 6th June 2025, the Dorsch Impact team in Essen was honoured to host the 56th meeting of the "Working Group Forest and Biodiversity", welcoming representatives of the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GIZ GmbH, KfW Development Bank and the leading German consulting companies in development cooperation.

During this important networking event, participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas on recent developments and innovations in the so-called “green sector”, as well as the current challenges facing international development cooperation in light of changing global conditions and policies.

On the first day of the meeting, group members presented concepts for managing marine and terrestrial conservancies, as well as strategies for tackling bush and forest fires. The second day focused on exploring approaches to the environmental restoration of the Emscher River following the end of coal mining in the Ruhr area. Site visits to the Emschergenossenschaft, RSBG, and RAG showcased the extensive perpetual obligations being implemented to ensure a sustainable future with healthy environmental and social living conditions for generations to come.
